Celebrating a Transformative Partnership: Red Deer Minor Baseball Association & The Daniel Family Foundation
A West Park Legacy Project Honoring Darold Daniel
Red Deer Minor Baseball Association (RDMBA) is proud to announce a landmark collaboration with the Daniel Family Foundation. Known for its visionary generosity and steadfast commitment to community, the Foundation has made an extraordinary 1-million-dollar commitment to the future of baseball in Red Deer. This remarkable investment will help to transform the West Park Middle School baseball facility into one of Central Alberta's premier baseball destinations, creating lasting opportunities for young athletes, families, volunteers, and baseball enthusiasts for generations to come.
This meaningful project honors the enduring legacy of Darold Daniel, whose love of baseball, family, and community service continues to inspire. Darold was an avid baseball player, coach, and organizer of tournaments in communities across central Alberta. During his career with The City of Red Deer, he also was the facility manager at Great Chief baseball park. In recognition of his legacy, the revitalized West Park facility will become the home of the annual Darold Daniel Memorial Tournament and support youth through the Darold Daniel Scholarship/Bursary Fund. Together, these initiatives will celebrate athletic achievement, education, teamwork, leadership, community involvement, and the importance of charitable giving.
Under the leadership of Chairperson Patrick Daniel, the Daniel Family Foundation's impact extends far beyond this project. Its longstanding commitment to strengthening communities, supporting youth, and investing in meaningful local initiatives has positively influenced countless individuals and organizations. Through both grassroots initiatives and transformational community projects, the Foundation continues to create opportunities that will benefit Central Alberta for years to come.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late August 2026, subject to final City approvals, with the first phase of improvements expected to continue through the fall and additional enhancements planned throughout 2027. During this process, RDMBA and the Daniel Family Foundation remain committed to working collaboratively with the City of Red Deer, West Park Middle School, the West Park Community Association, neighboring residents, and project partners to ensure the work is completed responsibly and respectfully.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have presented the project at the West Park Community Association Annual General Meeting and sincerely appreciate the support expressed by both the Community Association President and the Principal of West Park Middle School. We also appreciate the ongoing collaboration with the City of Red Deer as we work through the final development approval process. Building and maintaining strong relationships with the surrounding community will continue to be a priority as this legacy project moves forward.
The Daniel Family Foundation's generosity will be remembered as a defining moment in the history of Red Deer Minor Baseball, and we are honored to partner with the Daniel family in bringing this vision to fruition.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter as we look ahead to the inaugural Darold Daniel Memorial Tournament in 2027, the launch of the Darold Daniel Scholarship/Bursary Fund, and the continued transformation of West Park into a premier baseball destination for Central Alberta. To celebrate the official start of construction, Red Deer Minor Baseball and the Daniel Family Foundation will host a community ribbon-cutting ceremony. The date and event details will be announced once the final project approvals and arrangements with the City of Red Deer have been finalized.
With heartfelt thanks to the Daniel Family Foundation, we are building a legacy of community, opportunity, excellence, and pride—one pitch at a time.
