Red Deer Minor Baseball Association (RDMBA) is committed to providing a positive, competitive, and development-focused baseball experience for athletes of all ages and abilities. We strive to build strong athletes, great teammates, and outstanding young people through the game of baseball. We aim to build programs that both develop players and people.
We are seeking an organized, accountable, and community-driven leader to serve as our next General Manager.
Position Overview
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall administration, operational leadership, and strategic execution of RDMBA. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the GM ensures the association operates efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with its mission and long-term vision.
This role requires a self-driven, highly organized individual who is accessible, responsive, and committed to serving coaches, players, volunteers, and families. The GM must be flexible and available outside of regular business hours to support the needs of a community-based sport organization.
The GM serves as the primary operational leader and key liaison between the Board, membership, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
Execute the strategic direction established by the Board
Provide operational leadership and oversee day-to-day operations across all divisions and programs
Develop and maintain organized systems, timelines, and procedures
Ensure accountability across operations areas and initiatives
Ensure alignment between competitive and recreational programming
Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions
Operations, Administration, & Logistics
Manage and oversee registration processes and player movement
Manage scheduling, facility coordination, and league coordination
Maintain compliance with governing bodies and insurance requirements
Oversee equipment, uniforms, and infrastructure needs
Ensure deadlines are met and communication is proactive and clear
Other operational and administrative duties as required
Financial Management
Input into budget development and financial tracking
Work with Treasurer and Bookkeeper to monitor expenditures within Board-approved budgets
Lead sponsorship initiatives and fundraising efforts as required
Communication & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as a point of contact for member inquiries and concerns
Communicate clearly and professionally with families, coaches, and volunteers
Support conflict resolution in alignment with association policies
Build strong relationships with community partners and municipal stakeholders
Foster a culture of respect, accountability, and positive athlete experience
Coach & Volunteer Support
Be accessible and responsive to coaches and volunteers
Support coach and manager recruitment, onboarding, and program coordination
Work collaboratively with technical leadership on player development and other baseball initiatives
Ensure programming reflect RDMBA’s standards and values
External Relations & Government Liaison
Serve as the primary liaison between RDMBA and the City of Red Deer regarding facility bookings, field allocations, and user group relations
Maintain a strong, professional working relationship with municipal representatives to ensure effective coordination and long-term facility planning.
Act as the main point of contact between RDMBA and Baseball Alberta.
Ensure compliance with Baseball Alberta policies, deadlines, reporting requirements, and league communications.
Represent RDMBA in meetings or communications with governing bodies as required.

Flexibility and availability, including evenings and weekends during the evaluation and baseball season
A genuine passion for youth sport and community involvement
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
A high level of accountability and follow-through
Sound judgment and professionalism in challenging situations
The ability to balance relationship-building with operational excellence
Experience in sport administration, non-profit leadership, or organizational management would be considered an asset.
Compensation
Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
RDMBA’s preferred engagement structure is an independent contractor arrangement. However, alternative employment arrangements may be considered for the successful candidate to ensure mutual alignment.
