The 13U A division will play in the Red Deer City League again for the 2024 season. This allows us to create an even schedule for games and practices, as well as, minimize travel for our families. This would also allow us have to have parity and competitiveness that is often absent in the Central Alberta Baseball League (CABL). This potential change will be dependent on registration numbers as we will need a minimum of four teams to move forward. Should we not have a minimum of 4 teams, teams will be entered into the CABL league. The CABL league is run by Baseball Alberta where teams play other teams from Central Alberta. There will be some travel in the CABL but will be no further than 60 mins away.
13U A players wanting to extend their season and play into July and in provincials will have the opportunity to evaluate for the 13U A Provincial Team mid season.
(for more information on the 13U A provincial team please see below)
Division | Sessions/Week | Days of Play | Time | 2024 Evaluation Fee | 2024 Registration Fee |

*Female registrants are also permitted to remain in each division for 1 additional year as an overage player should they wish to do so.
A Evaluations will take place prior to season start, these are evaluations that are simply done in an effort to create even teams within the division so that each team has an equal opportunity for success throughout the season. Every player will be placed on a team regardless of how well they evaluate. This is simply used as a tool for us to evenly divide the players.
Whenever possible, Red Deer Minor Baseball will aim to create Provincial A Teams each season. The feasibility of these teams is based on registration numbers as well as the number of individuals who are interested in playing at this level.
The Provincial A Teams are made up of RDMBA players to create a selected team that will go on to play for an additional three weeks after the regular season has ended in June. These teams will also participate in A provincials in July. There will be extra commitment and costs associated with these teams as well as some travel. These teams should expect to pay seed fees (Seed fees will cover umpires and team registration fees)
Registration: Registration for Provincial Team evaluations will be sent out mid season once a date for evaluations has been set.
Evaluations: Evaluations are mandatory for anyone wishing to play on a Provincial A Team will be held mid-season in an attempt to have the teams selected with two to three weeks before the Provincial A team will be playing together. Red Deer Minor Baseball will use a version of the Baseball Canada Player Evaluation Tool for Provincial A Team selection. This evaluation tool will focus on the following criteria: hitting mechanics, hitting power, fielding, throwing mechanics, throwing power, and running.
Provincial A Team Coaches: Coaches are an integral part of a successful Provincial A team. Those interested in coaching a Provincial A League team should indicate their intentions and apply to Red Deer Minor Baseball for the position. Red Deer Minor Baseball will provide initial and ongoing support throughout the season.
Attendance: Players must commit to being available for practices, and more important, all Games. The teams are designed to give everyone optimal playing time, any missing player on game day will dramatically affect the team. Games should only be missed for emergencies.
Travel: All levels of Provincial A teams may require travel throughout Alberta for tournaments or provincials. Some additional expenses may be incurred for this travel.
Uniforms: Provincial A teams will be required to adhere to Red Deer Minor Baseball uniform policy (white baseball pants, red socks, red belt, if an undershirt is worn it must be red), Jerseys will be provided.
