Dan Tan named Head Coach of 2024 18U AAA Porttin Pipeline Braves

Red Deer Minor Baseball Association is pleased to announce Dan Tan as the Head Coach of our 2024 18U AAA Porttin Pipeline Braves!

Having moved to Red Deer in September 2023, Dan is enjoying getting involved in the baseball community. He currently works as the Assistant Baseball Director at The Dome after spending half the season as a Development Coach with the Edmonton Riverhawks.

Dan is a native of New Zealand, where he has coached within the national program for over a decade. Dan’s current role within the Baseball New Zealand organisation, is as the Bench Coach for the New Zealand Diamondblacks (the NZ National Team). He also spent time coaching third base for the Auckland Tuatara who were an expansion team in the Australian Baseball League.

As a player, Dan represented New Zealand at various age group tournaments as a youth. He also played collegiate baseball at the University of Calgary, playing mostly second base and outfield.

Dan is looking forward to leading the 2024 RDMBA 18U AAA team, in his words:

‘I am honoured to be chosen for this role. I believe that 18U is a pivotal age for every athlete. I can’t wait to get to know and get to work with the players chosen.’

We welcome Dan into Red Deer Minor Baseball Association and have no doubt, under his leadership, the 18U AAA’s will have an awesome season!
