The Board of Directors of the Red Deer Minor Baseball Association is very pleased to announce that Jim Mitchell has been elected as Red Deer’s Sport Volunteer of the Year for 2010.  Jim was recognized for his achievements at the annual Sports Awards Banquet today at the Capri Center.

Jim has spent countless hours over the past 10 years with the Red Deer Minor Baseball Association in helping to develop technical skills, mental attributes and strong ethical standards for the players in our association.  In addition to Jim’s outstanding efforts with Red Deer Minor Baseball, he has also been involved with minor hockey in Red Deer in various coaching and refereeing capacities since 1989.  Jim’s unselfish and positive attitude to supporting young athletes in our community has come as a result of significant personal sacrifice which has been very much appreciated by the players, parents and other coaches within Red Deer and Central Alberta.

In an environment where everyone’s lives have become so complex and consumed by many priorities, Jim continues to be an outstanding role model in our community and demonstrates the importance of volunteering within the community despite his own busy work schedule.  Thank you for your dedication to our athletes Jim!
