2023 11U A Registration Information

11U A Non-Competitive

In an attempt to improve our 11U A Program, RDMBA will aim to create a Red Deer City League in 2023. This change will eliminate the 11U teams we had previously entered into the Central Alberta Baseball League (CABL). This would also allow us to have the parity and competitiveness that is often absent for our CABL players/teams.

  • Teams will play 2 days a week, mostly games but some sessions may be practice.
  • Year end tournament towards the end on June.

*Even though we are eliminating our 11U CABL teams we will still enter 11U A teams into the provincial season if there is enough interest. Players wanting to extend their season into July and in provincials will have the opportunity to evaluate for the 11U A provincial team mid season. For more information on the 11U A provincial team please see below.

Equipment Required

  • Either cleats or good running shoes (cleats are recommended as the shale gets quite dry and slippery as the season goes on)
  • A protective jock or jill
  • White Baseball Pants
  • A baseball glove
  • Noscae approved batting helmet
  • Should your player have their own bat they can use it, if not there are bats available for use in the equipment bag.
  • Your player will receive a shirt and a baseball hat as part of your already paid registration.

 11U Evaluations

A evaluations will take place prior to season start, these are evaluations that are simply done in an effort to create even teams within the division so that each team has an equal opportunity for success throughout the season. Every player will be placed on a team regardless of how well they evaluate. This is simply used as a tool for us to evenly divide the players.

11U A Provincial Teams

Whenever possible, Red Deer Minor Baseball will aim to create Provincial A Teams each season. The feasibility of these teams is based on registration numbers as well as the number of individuals who are interested in playing at this level.

The Provincial A Teams are made up of RDMBA players to create a selected team that will go on to play for an additional three weeks after the regular season has ended in June. These teams will also participate in A provincials in July. There will be extra commitment and costs associated with these teams as well as some travel. These teams should expect to pay seed fees (Seed fees will cover umpires and team registration fees)

Registration: Players who wish to participate on a Provincial A Team must indicate their desire during registration. These players will need to commit to attending evaluations mid season once the date is set and commit to be able to play during the first three weeks of July.

Evaluations: Evaluations are mandatory for anyone wishing to play on a Provincial A Team will be held mid-season in an attempt to have the teams selected with two to three weeks before the Provincial A team will be playing together. Red Deer Minor Baseball will use a version of the Baseball Canada Player Evaluation Tool for Provincial A Team selection. This evaluation tool will focus on the following criteria: hitting mechanics, hitting power, fielding, throwing mechanics, throwing power, and running.

Provincial A Team Coaches: Coaches are an integral part of a successful Provincial A team. Those interested in coaching a Provincial A League team should indicate their intentions and apply to Red Deer Minor Baseball for the position. Red Deer Minor Baseball will provide initial and ongoing support throughout the season.

Attendance: Players must commit to being available for practices, and more important, all Games. The teams are designed to give everyone optimal playing time, any missing player on game day will dramatically affect the team. Games should only be missed for emergencies.

Travel: All levels of Provincial A teams may require travel throughout Alberta for tournaments or provincials. Some additional expenses may be incurred for this travel.

Uniforms: Provincial A teams will be required to adhere to Red Deer Minor Baseball uniform policy (white baseball pants, red socks, red belt, if an undershirt is worn it must be red), Jerseys will be provided.
